This day course covers the CMYK process for screenprinting, which is often used to reproduce photographic images.

This four colour separation process (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) builds the image through layers of colour. You will learn how to halftone and separate an image, mix colours and registration.

This course will be the ideal next step for those who are already screenprinters and those up for a challenge.

  • Introduction to LPW and Health and Safety
  • Introduction to CMYK
  • Mixing inks and screen set up
  • Printing of Yellow and Magenta layers
  • Lunch
  • How to halftone and separate an image demo
  • Printing of Cyan and Black layers
  • Clean up & Evaluation

    About the Tutor

    Leicester based artist Katy Goodrich has been a part of the workshop for the last 10 years. Starting as a volunteer she then undertook a 5 year apprenticeship at LPW learning all aspects of print. Specialising in screenprinting, Katy uses underwater photography to create her work, mainly using the CMYK colour separation technique.
