Print Club is an opportunity to gain confidence and build printmaking skills as part of a small group. Previous printmaking experience is required.

The first week will comprise discussion of your aims and goals and a tour of the workspace with time to make a start on your chosen work. Subsequent weeks take the form of self-directed, guided practical sessions, encouraging participants to use the time to explore and experiment.

A great way to meet people and get used to working in the studio environment, each week you will develop and further your skills, producing and developing work in a supportive group.

You will be supported by a technician who will offer best practice tips and refreshers. Reasonable quantities of basic materials will be included in the course price (tissue, proofing paper, single ink). Emulsion for screens, vinyl or metal plate will be charged at member rates if requested.

Structure

6 x two hour sessions. 6pm arrival and discussion of goals for that session, 7.40pm clear up of inks and materials for 8pm finish.

Week One: Health and Safety induction to Leicester Print Workshop, discussion of your chosen technique and aims or goals for the six weeks. Breaking into groups to explore your work supported by the Technician and introduction to your tools and equipment

Week Two: Three and Four: Support and guidance from the Technician. You will be encouraged to take an interest in the whole groups work.

Week Five and Six: Another more self-directed weeks for building on what you have learnt and with another chance to review the development of your work over the weeks. We strongly recommend you use these sessions to critically evaluate your own and others work.

Leicester Print Workshop 

Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.

We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
