Leicester Print Workshop is delighted to present our three day Winter Printmaking Schools in early 2024.

Taking place over the last weekend in January, these three day immersions will give participants a chance to dedicate time to their printmaking practice. With a choice of Bookmaking, (with Rahel Zoller
), Offset Lithography Zines (with Sue Baker Kenton) and Reduction Linocut (with Peter Rapp), participants will enjoy the opportunity to experiment, play, explore and focus on their chosen technique.
These courses build on the successes of our popular weeklong Summer Schools, and present a new opportunity for artistic development, inspiration and growth over Winter.

This workshop will focus on the book as a container of knowledge that can be transformed into an alternative creative medium, a specialist artefact and a strategy for conveying individual and personal creative statements. During the workshop participants will learn practical and conceptual aspects of bookmaking through hands-on demonstrations and through looking at artists’ book samples with different techniques to demonstrate the many advantages of simple yet effective bindings. Focusing on materiality, production and practicalities, the workshop will allow each participant to create a selection of book dummies that combine concept and form.

Course Structure

  • Introduction to the workshop + Health and Safety
  • What are Artists' Books? Covering the principles of the process and examples
  • Demonstrations of different book structures, discussions and planning towards individual needs
  • Clean up and evaluation

    About the Tutor

Rahel Zoller lives and works in London as an Artist, Book Arts and Design Specialist and Educator. She studied at Goldsmiths and University of the Arts London.

Since October 2015 Zoller has been a member of ABC (Artists’ Books Cooperative). Her work subverts, embraces, and interrogates the form of the book itself and draws on its surroundings as inspiration. She is embedding materiality into practice and playfully unstitches our concept of what a book is.
