Coronavirus Update: This course has been postponed from April 2020 and will be running with reduced numbers and new social distancing, hygiene and safety measures in place [as of 2nd September].
A tour of the Chado: Dreaming in Texture exhibition is the starting point for young people to make their own prints and experiment with space, light, form and tone.
Working with an artist, children will use a variety of print techniques, and present their work to family at the end of the session to achieve their certificate.
Subsidised by Arts Council England, our Discover Printmaking is a wonderful opportunity to experience the Leicester Print Workshop environment and learn about how professional artists make work.
Course Structure
- 10am - Welcome into the studio, introductions & health and safety - fire exits, etc. Settle into project space/education space
- 10.30am - Look closely / eye spy exhibition activity
- 11am - Snack / drink
- 11.15pm - Discover drypoint printmaking and collage
- 12.20pm - Preparation for the presentation
- 12.40pm - Parents / carers arrive for the presentation
- 12.55pm - Feedback / evaluation
Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
