Try the course before booking - we have a select number of places open in two, two and a half hour 'Taster' sessions running Wednesday 18th November and Friday 4th December 6.30 - 9pm. These are £25 but this will be refunded from the cost of the full course if you go on to book onto that. Please see our online booking page to secure your place on this amazing offer.
The course will be a mix of practical activity and research with independent work between sessions.
The emphasis will be that participants expand the idea of what Print can be and that you will be guided to develop your own voice and build your confidence.
There will be time given to collage, reworking old prints, use of colour and sculptural forms. You will explore 2D into 3D work, film and be encouraged to 'play purposefully'.
A great balance of making skills and contextual understanding. A course for those who want process to be the driver for ideas generation.
Collaboration and group work is a feature of this course and will offer support as the course builds.
Course participants will receive:
- Six 3 hour workshop sessions live online
- A one hour 1-2-1 tutorial
- One making day per term at LPW (2 total)
- Two days in the LPW studio to conclude the course

- A secure online facility to share discussions, outcomes, progress and support.
- Critical feedback and best practice between sessions.
Course Requirements
Access to join 'Zoom' to participate in the live sessions.
A few very basic materials.
Access to smart phone, tablet, computer or laptop to engage with the assignments and online content.
Course Structure
The monthly sessions will usually include:

Setting of Research & Preparation tasks for the following session
Independent work between sessions will include:

Practical activity/ extensions to classwork tasks
Preparation tasks for the next session e.g. cutting stencils/ cutting blocks

About the Tutor
Sue Baker Kenton is a visual artist whose work is rooted in observational drawing. Her images evolve over time in a considered and reflective way, echoed by the processes in which they are rendered: primarily etching and lithography.
Sue is the specialist printmaking tutor for the UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
