"Excellent and supportive teaching, as always from Sumiko - thank you!" Feb 2020

This weekend course will introduce you to Woodblock Printmaking - making relief prints using wood.

You will be shown how to transfer your image onto the woodblock, how to safely cut using traditional tools, and how to make prints by hand.

Wood has a natural tactile materiality, and working with it creates a wonderful and mindful image-making experience.  Please note that the cutting process will require some agility and strength in your hands.

During the course you will be shown how to hand burnish and take prints from your block without use of a press, allowing you to continue to produce more prints when you get home. You'll go home with prints produced on the course and a woodblock that you can continue printing and working with at home.
