Spend the day being introduced to the beauty of letterpress, using wood and metal type, Iron Hand Presses and Proofing presses. You'll explore all things letterpress; learning how to print, set your own letterpress from and build your confidence in this wonderful form of relief printmaking.
This course is a great introduction to letterpress from the ground up. It's perfect for those who have never used letterpress before and those who have a little experience and want a refresher alike.

- Health and safety in Letterpress
- Demonstration: how to print from type
- Print and Design your own letterpress print.
- Explore other possibilities of Letterpress
- Demonstration: how to clean both type and the press
- Cleaning and tidying and close of course
About the Tutor
Theo Miller is a visual artist and printmaker, born in Leicester. He gained a first class degree in Fine Art from De Montfort University in 2014. Miller is currently living and working in Leicester as an Artist and also as a Technician for De Montfort University.
Printmaking, for Miller is an axis, a locus. He describes the beauty of printmaking to be that the final image is always affected by, and integral to the process itself. Miller is currently focusing on letterpress, after being granted the Print Futures Award 2017.
Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
