Tutor  Sue Baker Kenton

We are happy to announce a new series of surgeries designed to give burgeoning etchers some additional support as they develop their skills. In semi structured sessions you will work on your own projects working with the tutor providing 1:1 support to trouble shoot. All metals and etching techniques covered.

About the Tutor

Sue Baker Kenton is a visual artist whose work is rooted in observational drawing. Her images evolve over time in a considered and reflective way, echoed by the processes in which they are rendered: primarily etching and lithography.

Recent work includes Ghost[ed.]  a collaborative stone lithography project

Sue is a member of the tutor team at LPW and is the specialist printmaking tutor for the UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, City Lit. In September 2016 she began two years as etching fellow at the RA Schools.

Course Structure

Previous experience of etching at a basic introductory level is essential for these sessions.

Each session can be booked individually.

You will work independently on your projects supported individually as needed. Additional etching/aquatint techniques will be introduced when requested and as the group dynamic allows. You may find yourself working alongside two other participants to learn a particular new technique whilst the others in the group tackle a different area.

Please be aware that because of the nature of these sessions it is recommended that you have several plates to work on, to best use your time when the tutor is busy.

There will be examples given of contemporary artists using the process, and discussions about tools and materials and technical demonstrations given.
