Tutor Elizabeth Hawley-Lingham

Our professional development series continues with an evening with CVAN EM's Director Elizabeth Hawley-Lingham.

Elizabeth Hawley-Lingham will introduce you to the Contemporary Visual Arts Network East Midlands, set up to support the region’s visual arts community. Drawing on her experience of working in public galleries, arts funding, and artist support, she will lead an interactive session exploring notions of success, how to navigate the art world, building networks and relationships, and getting what you need to develop as an artist.

With particular reference to films and publications produced as part of CVAN EM’s recent Document projectwhich captured the experiences of six artists living and working in the East Midlands, she will invite you to consider your own place in the visual arts ecology, share your experiences, identify challenges you may face whilst pursuing your practice, and reflect on your aspirations.

About the Tutor

Elizabeth Hawley-Lingham is responsible for developing and delivering CVAN EM’s programme of activity in collaboration with the Steering Group, as well as representing and advocating for the Network regionally and nationally, brokering partnerships and developing opportunities, and evaluating its benefits and impact.

In her role, Liz draws on her twenty year experience within the visual arts sector, from roles in the artist-led sphere, public galleries, and arts funding and development.

In the last ten years, alongside CVAN EM, she has worked with clients that include UK Young Artists, Birmingham and Coventry Contemporary Art Forums, the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, Own Art, Turning Point West Midlands (now New Art West Midlands), the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and The New Art Gallery Walsall.
