Print Club is an opportunity to gain confidence and build printmaking skills as part of a small group in a technician led series of sessions. Previous experience is required.
This Intaglio Print Club gives you the chance to concentrate on making drypoints, etchings or collagraphs over six weeks. Printing from beneath the surface, explore mark making, inking and use of chine-collé in a supported environment, with access to a technician who will have you working independently in no time.
The first week will comprise demos and discussion, whilst subsequent weeks take the form of self-directed, guided practical sessions, encouraging participants to use the time to explore and experiment. A great way to meet people and get used to working in the studio, each week you will develop and further your skills, producing great prints to take away.
Week One: Health and Safety induction to Leicester Print Workshop, discussion of your chosen intaglio technique and aims or goals for the six weeks.
Week Two: Breaking into groups to explore your work supported by the Technician.
Week Three: Support and guidance from the Technician. You will be encouraged to take an interest in the whole groups work.
Week Four: Continuation of printing supported by the Technician.
Week Five: A more self-directed week for building on what you have learnt, with direction from the Technician to improve and develop.
Week Six: Another more self-directed week for building on what you have learnt and with another chance to review the development of your work over the weeks.
Theo Miller is a visual artist and printmaker, born in Leicester. He gained a first class degree in Fine Art from De Montfort University in 2014. Miller is currently living and working in Leicester as an Artist and also as a Technician for both Leicester Print Workshop and De Montfort University.
