A unique and immersive practical and theoretical course exploring colour, light and space in art with painter Satta Hashem.
Participants will explore colour theory through scientific, philosophical and artistic disciplines and learn how to analyse paintings, drawings and prints through composition, saturation, light, tone and colour.
During the course, participants will develop a series of paintings and learn challenging techniques through collage, oil and acrylic paints.
By the end of the course, you will have learnt knowledge to apply to your practice, and have a deeper understanding of how to observe the world inside and outside of yourself.

Week One

- Practical exercise: studying the colours of a famous artwork
- How do we see colour / ancient colour theory (before Newton)
- Colour theory after Newton
- The six universal colours and their relationship to visual perception (fundamental colours)

Leicester Print Workshop
Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.
We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors. Participants learn in small and friendly groups in our purpose-designed studio.
